To better support team members try to lead with questions. Why? Because when you lead with questions you will:
- Increase Engagement. If you ask questions to your team members, it will build a sense of community. They will believe that their ideas are worthwhile and that you value their opinion making them an essential part of the team.
- Receive Interesting Ideas. By asking for input you are creating an environment where ideas are welcomed. Remember that means listening and acting on ideas.
- Improve Your Team’s Learning Process. When you ask people questions, you help them problem solve on their own by considering a problem from different angles.
- Your Team Will Feel More Comfortable Around You. By asking your team members for their opinion they will feel valued by you and the organization.
If you can only commit to one thing. One simple thing. Commit to this: Ask your team members every day, “Is there anything you need from me today?”
